About Us

Since its launch in 2006, Grub Street has been the digital destination for New York’s authoritative, award-winning food and restaurant coverage. Through investigative reports, up-to-the-minute trendspotting, meticulously researched guides, and the weekly “Grub Street Diet” — a food diary written by the likes of T-Pain, David Sedaris, and Sarah Jessica Parker — Grub Street squints at the food world through an ever-evolving lens.

Grub Street was honored with the James Beard Foundation Journalism Award for Best Group Food Blog in 2011 and 2015, its diner-at-large Tammie Teclemariam won the Emerging Voice Award in 2022, and its then–restaurant critic Adam Platt won for his restaurant reviews in 2009. New York Magazine won the James Beard Award for Food Coverage in a General-Interest Publication in 2019; was a finalist for the National Magazine Award for General Excellence (News, Sports, and Entertainment) in 2019, 2020, and 2022; and won the 2018 National Magazine Award for Best Website.

Grub Street’s writers and critics are committed to chronicling the industry’s inner workings, breaking the must-know dining-world news, and uncovering the very best things to eat, drink, and do in New York City and beyond.

Since 2019, New York has been a part of Vox Media, the leading modern media company, whose portfolio features nearly 20 popular and influential editorial properties, including (in addition to the New York brands) Vox, Eater, NowThis, SB Nation, The Dodo, and The Verge.
